Gendhing Pequeño (1994)

from Loners & Misfits by Steve Peters

/

about

This piece began as a rather abstract, electronic, improvisational piece composed for Gamelan Encantada. It eventually morphed into a more straight-forward and simple gamelan piece that was choreographed by Lane Lucas. Of the three gamelan pieces I've written, it's the closest I ever came to adhering to any kind of traditional Javanese structure.

The gong drones at the beginning and end are the same ones that were later added to Library Music and used as source material for Agung.

The only notes I can find about this recording say, "performed by members of Gamelan Encatada," but I'm pretty sure I ended up playing everything myself. If anyone else is playing on here it's probably Jenny DeBouzek.
